Inala Cooper

Inala Cooper is a Yawuru woman of the Kimberley with Irish and German heritage. She has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Human Rights Law and is currently the Director of Murrup Barak at the University of Melbourne. With over 15 years’ experience in higher education Inala has presented papers at a range of international conferences including the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE) and the Native American and Indigenous Studies Association (NAISA), and in 2022 was the President of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Higher Education Consortium (NATSIHEC).

Inala is a regular contributor on ABC News Breakfast (and The Drum) and at writer’s festivals including Queenscliffe Literary Festival, Sorrento Writers Festival, and Adelaide Writers Week.
